CREE / GERMAN SOUND HEALER DISCOVERS NATURAL SHAMANIC DRUM GIFT

Saskatchewan-born international “galactic” artist, and sound energy healer, who goes by the name, “Indian in the machine” or Dieter Braun (his given name), or Diego, is offering people  a glimpse into the mysterious and yet timeless spiritual healing artform of shamanic trance drumming via Spirit Drum Tour BC Spring 2015.  “This shamanic drumming ability is something I have discovered in the past 15 or so years, which is the ability to channel spiritual energy using the native bass drum as a main medium… it was not something taught to me by anyone, it is in my DNA, probably honed over several lifetimes”. Braun’s magical shamanic drumming is not pow wow drumming, or based on any specific native tradition; Braun is half-Cree native, and half German, “actually, the drum reflects both sides of my genetic ancestry, in that the drum is native, but to be extremely focused at something, is german”, chuckling.

MANY ARE HAVING SENSATION THAT “SOMETHING IS MISSING” FROM MODERN SOCIETY ITSELF – SOUND HEALING MUSIC AND RHYTHM IS LIKE NUTRITION FOR THE SOUL

Braun’s travels from Mexico, Peru, Ecuador, Costa Rica throughout winter seasons, have eventually led him to BC, “Experiencing my drum in many different cultures has given me a perspective on how different cultures respond to the drum… in latin america there is more of a reverence for the drum, at least in artistic and coastal cultures.  Braun says, “In our modern music industry,  music has become very corporate, and dark, and is actually more like fast food, than a good gourmet meal, to the soul… and just like fast food,  people go about their daily grind, but often longing for ‘something that is missing'”;  shamanic drumming is like nutrition for the soul.  Braun feels that ‘something missing’ is a connection to spirit and Oneness consciousness, that just is not always there in lifestyles guided by corporate hands, in fact Braun says, “corporations often do not welcome or accept that humans are spiritual beings… but instead accepts that human are “resources” to be used until no longer needed… conscious spiritually awakening people are left in this process, eventually searching for meaning.

SHAMANIC DRUMMING CAN ASSIST SOULS WHO ARE ‘SEARCHING’

According to Braun, humanity’s competitive nature in general, mixed in with a preoccupation with superficiality,  has left people longing to “find what is missing”.  Braun says, “I have carried my bass drum to four countries and have had experiences from jams, to ceremonies, to open mics, to spiritual activations, to parties, or gatherings around the fire at the beach… I really like those… but I have also strongly resonated with using the drum not only as a means to keep the beat, but also to actually help people heal, or unify… it is rare that anyone who hears a drum played in a spiritually uplifting manner, is left without a feeling of unifying with the group, and/or with a greater force, no matter how you identify with that force… and at bare minimum, people find it strongly grounding and rebalancing, on their path.

A SHAMANIC DRUMMING EXPERIENCE IS DIFFERENT EACH TIME, FOR EACH PERSON

If you are new to the shamanic drumming experience, other things happen during a drum session, from people feeling empowered, feelings of connection, the urge to move the body, the urge to meditate or pray… the urge to sit still or dance.  Braun says, “I actually encourage people to dance if there is room, or to lie down if there is room, or to bring a yoga mat, pillow and blanket, to absorb the drumming that way if you like,  since people often enjoy the drumming from that experience… I take it as a total compliment when people fall asleep (haha), as they are showing themselves exactly what they need and feel safe with my drumming and presence to do so, like babes in the woods”. Sometimes when people awaken from entering a deep meditative sleep, they ‘come back’ with fantastic stories of past lives or futuristic visions, “That part is endlessly fascinating for me”, says Braun. “I remember two women listening to my sound healing, who had never had that experience before, and then when lying down on the massage table, ‘out in a trance’, within 30 seconds each, one lady came back with a tearful story of a past life with a tribe, which is quite the experience you usually don’t get listening to corporately-motivated music”.

A RARE OPPORTUNITY TO EXPERIENCE SHAMANIC DRUMMING FIRSTHAND

Describing a shamanic drumming experience like the one Braun is offering during the Spirit Drum Tour – BC Spring 2015 can be challenging in itself,  Braun says, “There is overwhelming positive feedback on what a powerful experience this is for people, but ultimately, it is something I recommend each person experiences for themselves, because each person goes on a different trip with this type of drumming or music, and it is different each time for each person.   To add to the gatherings, I will be honing in some native flute,  and a special ancestral blessing”.
