A boisterous crowd of about 400 people marched through the streets of Saskatoon Saturday afternoon before occupying Friendship Park.
The occupation is being done as a show of solidarity with the Occupy Wall Street movement, where a throng of protestors have set up an encampment in New York’s financial district.
The Saskatoon crowd chanted slogans like, “We’re the 99 per cent,” and “You say big banks, we say no thanks,” as they marched from the top of the University Bridge to the Farmer’s Market before looping back to Friendship Park and setting up camp. Organizers are unsure how long the encampment will last.
